The contest commission examined the files of the nine applicants for the post of governor of the National Bank of Moldova and decided that one applicant must submit a number of missing documents, while two applicants must prove that they worked in the financial or monetary sector for at least ten years. The other six aspirants were admitted to the contest, IPN reports.
The commission said the additional documents must be presented by February 26 so that the selection interviews could be held at the start of next week. As a part of the candidates are abroad, the interviews with those who will be unable to come for the interview will be held through videoconferencing or by phone. Based on these interviews, the commission will chose a candidate who will be proposed to the Speaker for being presented in Parliament.
“The process of collecting applications showed that there are Moldovans abroad who care for the country and who are ready to return to make a contribution to the country’s development, which is praiseworthy. We are pleased to see the qualification of the Moldovans who are abroad and their wish to come back even if the incomes here are much lower than abroad,” Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said after the commission’s meeting.
“The commission set the objective of deciding the assessment criteria and the score for the questions that will be put in the selection interviews by February 26. The colleagues from the NGO sector submitted proposals and we welcome this expertise as it will help us make the applicant assessment process more transparent,” said Stefan Creanga, who heads the commission for selecting the candidate for National Bank governor.
Nine persons filed applications to take part in the contest. These are: Roman Chernyshev, Vadim Branzan, Sergiu Cioclea, Sergey Melnik, Valeriu Chitan, Victor Timotin, Gheorghe Dimitrov, Sergiu Iachim, and Vladimir Munteanu.
