The water level of the Nistru in the area of the pumping facility in Vadul lui Voda has not changed for the last 12 hours. Apa-Canal Chisinau water supplier's technicians have told Info-Prim Neo the water level stood at 19.25 m on Thursday in the morning. An accident happened at the pump on Wednesday. An underground cable feeding the engine got broken. The area around the station was flooded and the wet cable yielded, technicians say. Immediately after the short circuit, the cable was replaced with another, not contacting the water. Constantin Becciev, the manager of Apa-Canal Chisinau municipal enterprise declined the allegations of some media that the engine supplying water to the capital would have broken. “Delivering water to Chisinau has not been and will not be interrupted,” Becciev said. Visiting the pumping facility on Wednesday, Chisinau's general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca stated that, although the water exceeded 19 m, no accident have been registered at the pumping station and its activity is not jeopardized. The leisure area in Vadul lui Voda further remains flooded almost completely, as the water has reached the motorways linking Balabanesti and Cosernita villages with Vadul lui Voda. The access to those areas is restricted. Municipal employees, police and rescuers work on alert and monitor the situation in the flooded areas.
