Situation of Romanian language schools in Transnistria remains critical, NGO

The violation of the right to education of the students of the eight Moldovan administered, Romanian language schools in the Transnistria region became a norm for the Transnistrian administration, ascertained the association Promo-LEX, which monitored the school year start festivities in the region, IPN reports.

According to Promo-LEX, this year some of the school principals were also warned beforehand by the phone that the playing of the national theme and hoisting of the national flag of the Republic of Moldova are banned. “By their presence at the school year start festivities, the representatives of the Transnistrian militia continue to intimidate the students and teachers. This year, these could be seen at the secondary school in Corjova village, the Tiraspol Theoretical Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” and the secondary school in Roghi village,” it is said in a press release of the association.

Promo-LEX said a larger number of militiamen compared with the previous years went to the secondary school in Roghi. Three vehicles and almost ten representatives of the militia were seen near the school. The situation of the Romanian language schools in Transnistria remains very critical.
