Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca instructed the competent bodies to attentively monitor the situation at the state-run document issuing company “Registru” and to take all the measures needed to ensure the legality and functionality of the document issuing process and to protect the state interests, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government, Iurie Leanca had a meeting with the working group constituted to examine the given case and identify optimal solutions so as to ensure the functionality of IS “Registru”. The meeting involved decision makers of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Security and Information Service, and the National Anticorruption Center. The group’s members said that problems appeared at “Registru” after the court obliged the company to pay US$7.8 million damages to “Intercomsoft LTD”.
Acting Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said the materials on this case were sent to the Supreme Council of Magistrates last week. The Council’s Disciplinary Board is to examine the materials concerning seven judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Justice, who tried this case. An application was sent to court to suspend the implementation of the decision and to review it.
In the same connection, the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat told the journalists that Mihai Ghimpu’s insinuations that he is responsible for the situation at “Registru” are aberrant. “Regretfully, he shows again and again that he is a liar too. While I served as Prime Minister, I was honestly involved in the protection of the state institutions and the public money,” he stated.
In a TV program, the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said he suspects that Vlad Filat is behind the attacks on “Registru”.
