The violent protests in the center of Kiev continue the third day. The police confirmed that the bodies of two persons with signs of a violent death were found in the morning of January 22. A tank was brought to the central square of Kiev. President Viktor Yanukovich invited the opposition leaders to a discussion, IPN reports, quoting Interfax Agency.
The violent protests started on January 19, after the country’s administration adopted a number of laws providing for the criminal punishment of those who cause mass disorder.
Interfax reported that the meeting of Viktor Ianukovich and three leaders of the opposition is taking place now in the building of the presidential administration.
Ukrainian protesters made attempts to enter the state administration sector, but the police dispersed them with tear gas. The police do not have firearms. Internet users said the police kick the protesters.
The initially peaceful protests in Kiev began last November, when the administration decided to suspend the association with the EU. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets in central Kiev, demanding resuming the process and the dismissal of the government.
