Situation at Tighina high school “Alexandru cel Bun” remains uncertain
The situation at the Romanian language high school “Alexandru cel Bun” working in Tighina (Bender) town is under control. The institution fulfilled all the conditions imposed by the hygiene and epidemiology center, said the co-chairman of the Joint Control Commission Ion Solonenko. On the other hand, the jurist of the public association “Promo-Lex” Alexandru Postica said the high school is in danger as the doctors of the mentioned center did not cancel the order they made, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On April 15 in the morning, “Promo-Lex” issued a public statement informing that the high school “Alexandru cel Bun” runs the risk of being closed and asked the Joint Control Commission to discuss the given issue as a priority at today's meeting.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the Commission's co-chairman Ion Solonenko said the situation at the high school is under control. “The school works and the conditions imposed by the Tighina hygiene and epidemiology center were fulfilled,” Ion Solonenko said, avoiding saying if the subject was discussed at the meeting and if a decision was made.
According to Alexandru Postica, the head of the high school Maria Roibu on April 14 said the situation is critical as the hygiene and epidemiology center threatened they will close the school on April 15. “We haven't been informed about a decision taken by the Commission. The risk that the school will be closed still exists as the center's order is in force,” the jurist said.

On March 31, 2001, the hygiene and epidemiology center issued an order, informing that the Tighina-based theoretical, Romanian-language high school “Alexandru cel Bun” might be closed after April 15, as the sanitary conditions there are poor. It was also argued that its school curriculum does not correspond to the one used in the Transnistrian region.
