The zone located at 12 Tighina St in Chisinau will be rehabilitated. The new U.S. Embassy compound and a public park will be built. The MPs ratified the agreement with the US Government on the acquisition of the site for the new embassy compound. The purchase price is €18 million, IPN reports.

The U.S. diplomatic campus will be built on an area of about 5.2 hectares. The U.S. authorities also undertake to create parks or spaces open to the general public, and the announced investments will amount to approximately US$250 million. The historic gates of the former stadium will be restored and public art installations will be set up.

The €18 million proceeds will be allocated by the authorities for implementing projects, such as the repair of a number of sports schools, designing of the future national stadium and creation of the Center for Culture and Contemporary Art “Universul”.

The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States was concluded for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension by additional periods of one year each, but not more than five times.
