The two sisters aged 13 and 16 from Cahul town, who went missing at the beginning of this week, were found. The girls were in Maximovca village of Anenii Noi district. The police were informed about the whereabouts of the girls by the local priest, who saw them at the service.
Press officer of the Cahul Police Inspectorate Catalina Fonar has told IPN that it’s not yet known how the girls got to Maximovca. A psychologist will talk to the girls to determine what made them leave home.
Contacted by IPN, specialist of the Cahul Social Assistance Division Natalia Aftenii said the girls’ family is monitored by the local authorities. The girls’ father serves time in jail, while their mother has a disability degree, as one of the sisters has. The family benefitted from assistance. Specialists are to discuss with the two girls. A special commission will investigate this case and will decide whether the girls will remain with their mother or whether they will be placed in the custody of the state.
On April 6, the girls’ mother informed the police that her minor daughters went to school and didn’t return.
