IPN Agency reacted to the concerns expressed by Moldovan society, which fears that the day of May 9 may be used by different circles of interest as a pretext for particular kinds of provocations and for causing destabilization in Moldova. The concerns seem sufficiently justified in the context of the profound regional crisis that affects Moldova too. The given mini-series will present the opinions of representatives of central and local public authorities, of political parties and analysts and the measures by which the possible provocations can be prevented or annihilated.

Asked by IPN to comment on the forecasts concerning provocations possible on May 9, the Security and Information Service said: “The asymmetric and regional nature of the threats to the current security climate requires the Security and Information Service (SIS) of Moldova to work under a high security regime. Therefore, the SIS, in concert with other competent state bodies, exchanges useful data, implicitly the integral informative product, and takes common actions aimed at discovering, preventing and combating acts that, according to the legislation, affect the security of the state, public and people’s security.”
The response of the SIS to IPN’s enquiry says: “The monitoring and effective control actions taken, adjusted to the large-scale measures planned to be carried out in the immediate period (in the municipality of Chisinau and in other settlements of the country), currently represent the major concern of the SIS. At the same time, we note that additional information concerning the maintaining of public order and security on May 9 and May 10 respectively was provided in the recent past by representatives of the authorized national bodies.”
