The Security and Information Service (SIS) will render progress reports yearly or at request. This is stipulated in amendments to the Law on the Security and Information Service passed by the legislative body on February 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. The rapporteur on the bill, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said such amendments are needed as the previous law did not oblige the institution to report on its work. Article 20 of the law says only that the SIS will present reports in the agreed way. By introducing the phrase “yearly or at request”, the mechanism for democratically controlling the Service will be optimized and the institution’s work will be more transparent, said Vlad Filat. The bill was adopted by a unanimous vote.
