The Security and Information Service (SIS) is responsible for the escape of the Russian blogger Eduard Baghirov, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said in a press briefing on Friday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. ”The responsible institution was designated by court decision. It was the SIS, not the Ministry of the Interior. The SIS is to provide information and explanations as to why such a thing happened,” said Vlad Filat. He also said that this reveals that some of the institutions are not responsible. “This body did not do its job and this shows I was rights when I demanded taking steps to make sure that such institutions as the SIS, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior are functional. This case is to be examined. Those to blame will be held accountable,” said Vlad Filat. The Premier stressed that if the blame of the blogger is proved, there are legal mechanisms for trying him. If the person is convicted, there will be made an extradition request. Eduard Baghirov was arrested in June, being accused of involvement in the organization of the public disorder of April 2009. Recently, he was transferred under house arrest, but managed to escape and got to Russia.
