An employee of the Security and Information Service (SIS) is accused of hitting by his car a vehicle parked by the roadside in Bardar village of Ialoveni district while under the influence of alcohol. As a result, five persons were hurt, three of whom children. The accident happened last September. Until now the court annulled the ordinance to persecute the SIS employee three times.
Lawyer for the persons who were hurt in the accident Vitalie Taulean, in a news conference at IPN, said the SIS employee wasn’t held accountable. It is yet more serious that the woman driver who parked the vehicle legally by the roadside was found guilty of the accident.
According to the lawyer, the blood alcohol test showed that the SIS employee had a large amount of alcohol in the body, being thus heavily inebriated. In several hours, he was subject to another test, which showed that there was a low amount of alcohol in the blood. Thus, a criminal case wasn’t started against him.
After the accident, Marina Luchita, who was at the steering wheel of the parked car, was admitted to the hospital together with her two children. When she was discharged, she found out that the Ialoveni Court found her guilty of causing the accident. The woman said that nobody questioned her about the accident, while the prosecution officer came one Sunday to her and spoke rudely to her. “My car still gathers rust as I, being declared guilty, was unable to perform an examination to show the exact causes of the accident. I didn’t think that something like this is possible in a country where they say the human rights are respected,” stated Marina Luchita.
Ludmila Iovu, the second woman who was hurt in the accident, said that her work capacity was affected and she lost her job, while her child, who was in the car together with her, now has serious neurological problems.
Marina Luchita and Ludmila Iovu said they decided to make this case public in the hope that the law enforcement bodies will act in accordance with the law under the pressure of the public opinion, not under the influence of personal interests.
