The Center for the Protection of Fundamental Rights “Sirius”, which is a public association, and the Civic Action “Centenarul” signed an open letter addressed to the central authorities of Romania by which they call on the Romanian state to obey the Constitution, the related laws and the basic rights of the Romanian citizens, regardless of their whereabouts, and to order the reintegration by recognizing the Union Act of March 27, 1918.
In a news conference at IPN, the association’s representative Anatolie Petrici said the letter comes to support the mayors who signed and are yet to sign statements on the union with Romania. This is addressed to the royal house of Romania, the President, Parliament and Government, the Constitutional Court and the prosecutor general of Romania. This is to be sent the next few days.
The members of “Sirius” reiterated the call to the people and to the 101 members of Moldova’s Parliament to come to the Great National Assembly Square on March 25 to vote a statement on the recognition of the Union Act of March 27, 1918.
Also then, the participants will demand that the Parliaments of Moldova and Romania, in the joint meeting of March 27, should vote a decision on the implementation of the Union Act, and will empower a delegation consisting of mayors and local councilors who signed statements on the country’s reintegration to go to the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau and to Parliament to submit the voted documents.
Stefan Sofronovici, scientific researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, said the Republic of Moldova is an artificial state. According to him, we live in a state that is a consequence of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact and the union cause is holy as the Romanian nation is the only one in Europe that was divided as Russia wanted.
Alexei Busuioc, mayor of Capaclia village of Cantemir district, said the mayors are realists and understand very well that the union is ensured gradually. The signing of the statements on Moldova’s union with Romania is a tendency that cannot be stopped even if these statements are not legal documents. The mayor’s offices opened up the borders by twinning or joint projects.
Writer Nicolae Dabija said the Republic of Moldova is that lizard tail that remained only a tail and that ultimately became a failed state. “Only by the union with Romania, we will be independent and will be militarily neutral, while Russia will be obliged to take its army and go away,” he stated.
