Single mother accuses Victoriabank of intending to deprive her of apartment

Ludmila Maeva, who raises her underage son alone, accuses Victoriabank of wanting to take her house away even if she fulfilled all the conditions of the contract, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Monday, the woman said that in 2007 she took out two loans of 45,000 and 140,000 lei, pledging her apartment and her car. In two years, she found out that the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime started a legal case against her for getting the loan by swindle. Ludmila Maeva said the prosecutor who is investigating the case operates in collusion with the bank and they want to deprive her of apartment. Victoriabank already sold her car at a price that is two times lower than its market value. According to the woman, after she raised the loan she went abroad and asked a trustworthy person to repay the loan in accordance with the contract. When she returned to Moldova, she found out that she was wanted. “I don’t understand why this legal case was opened and why somebody wants to dispossess me,” stated Ludmila Maeva, adding such wrongdoings can be committed only in Moldova. Ludmila Maeva intends to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights if the national courts do not do her justice. She said that owing to this situation she could not get married, her father died, while her mother suffered a heart attack. The woman’s lawyer Ivan Terzi confirmed that Ludmila Maeva fulfilled all her contractual obligations to the bank in due time. He said that persons of the Anticorruption Center are involved in this case and, together with Victoriabank, intend to dispossess the woman.
