Singers from 13 countries to take part in “Twin Hearts” Festival

Representatives from 13 countries have confirmed their participation in the second “Twin Hearts” Contest-Festival in memory of Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici, Info-Prim Neo reports. Traditionally, the festival is held at “Mihai Eminescu” Theater on November 13 and 14, while the Laureate Gala – at the National Place on November 15, when Doina Aldea-Teodorovici would have turned 52. In a news conference, Doina's mother Eugenia Marin, who is the festival's director, said 22 singers will compete this year in the children's section (10-15 years), 11 of whom are from Moldova. Twenty-five persons will compete in the adults' section. The Netherlands, the Russian autonomous republic Adygeya and, possibly, China will take part in the festival for the first time. The participants sing by two songs – one by composer Ion Aldea-Teodorovici and another one of their choice. Next year, there will be reintroduced the composition section as Ion Aldea-Teodorovici was first of all a very talented composer, said Eugenia Marin. The festival is financed by the Department for Romanians Everywhere, the Government of Moldova, the Chisinau City Hall, and a Balti-based doll factory. Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici were killed in a road accident on the night of October 30, 1992.
