The legislative body didn’t support the simple motion made by the Socialist MPs against Minister of Education Corina Fusu. A total of 31 MPs voted in favor of dismissing the minister, IPN reports.
The Socialist MPs said the current administration of the Ministry of Education showed incompetence and turned into a mechanism for promoting the Liberal Party. “The development of education must be also a national priority for you, as a minister. You must focus on the training of human resources and solve the problems faced in the education sector, not your own problems,” stated Socialist Vasile Bolea.
Communist MP Inna Supac said the number of students in education institutions in Moldova has decreased significantly, as the number of teachers did. “In the 2015-2016 school year, the number of institutions decreased by 24 units on a year before. Six primary schools, five schools for children with disabilities and two lyceums stopped work,” she stated.
The Liberal-Democrats also voted for the simple motion. Lib-Dem Maria Ciobanu said that after Corina Fusu was appointed as minister of education, persons who are not competent in the field have been employed in the education sector.
Corina Fusu presented a report and answered MPs’ questions. She denied the accusations that reforms are not done in education. She noted that she intends to continue to promote the functioning of the Romanian language, modernizations of vocational education and improvement of the quality of studies in Moldova.
The Socialist MPs also proposed by a simple motion against the minister of defense and the minister of finance.
