Silvia Radu says she is target of denigration campaign in public sphere

Silvia Radu, who is running as an independent in the new mayoral elections in Chisinau, says she is the target of a denigration campaign orchestrated by political parties. She denies the rumors that she intends to withdraw from the election campaign, IPN reports.

In a news conference, the candidate said untrue information about her family, career or business is disseminated in the public sphere. Particular persons phone inhabitants of Chisinau allegedly in her name and invite these to events where she is evidently not present. The goal is to show that she is a person who does not keep her word and does not come to the announced meetings.

Silvia Radu noted the stake of the elections in Chisinau for political parties is to obtain advantages for the parliamentary elections of this autumn or to gain access to the resources of the City Hall. But she wants to become mayor to continue the activities she initiated in the municipality during the past few months as acting mayor and to bring things in the city in order.

The candidate for mayoralty said she expects false polls will also appear to mislead the residents of Chisinau. She called on the voters to treat these polls with reservation and to ignore the campaigns aimed at denigrating her. She also called upon them to go and vote on May 20 and give a lesson to the politicians by their vote.
