Acting mayor general of Chisinau Silvia Radu ordered to remove the fir tree set up in the Great National Assembly Square in the morning of December 2. In a posting on Facebook, she wrote that the Christmas tree arrived in Chisinau very damaged. According to Silvia Radu, a new fir tree will be bought and those who made a mistake or acted so intentionally will suffer the consequences, IPN reports.
“Some want very much the residents of Chisinau not to have a Christmas tree this year, but I want the fir tree to be and to be a nice one, even if it will be placed with a delay of several days. To eliminate any new possible risks, I will personally buy a fir tree, with my own money, and will donate it to the municipality, for the citizens of Chisinau,” wrote Silvia Radu.
The Christmas tree that the municipality bought in Ukraine arrived in Chisinau destroyed, after days of expectation. This was installed in the Great National Assembly Square. Employees of the Green Areas Association cut down the branches that were damaged during transportation. These were to be replaced with new branches fixed with the help of rods.
The fir tree was bought for over 15,000 lei in the Ukrainian region Ivano-Frankivsk. It was to be decorated by November 30 so that it could be inaugurated on December 1.
