Acting mayor general of Chisinau municipality Silvia Radu said a large part of the municipal enterprises will have to be liquidated in the future as these do nothing but waste public funds. The issue was developed in a special edition of a program on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Silvia Radu said these enterprises will have to be liquidated also because they bring no benefit by their activity. “I’m convinced that this money that would be saved as a result of simplifications could be used to solve all the social problems we have on the City Hall’s agenda,” said the acting mayor.

Silvia Radu also said that she is a scarecrow for corrupt people and for those who do not do their job. “I always respect the work and devotion of the people and try to be equidistant in my personal attitudes at work. It is important to ensure the principle of professionalism and there will be no scarecrows then,” she stated.

As regards the symbolic statements on the union with Romania signed by a number of communities in Moldova, Silvia Radu said this is a democratic thing, but noted that she would not divide the residents of Chisinau by the union idea as the municipal mayor promotes the interests of all the citizens of the capital city.

On February 16, the suspended mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca announced his resignation. He said he took such a decision in protest at the abuses committed against him and the capital city.

According to Dorin Chirtoaca, the Chisinau City Hall remitted his letter of resignation to the Central Election Commission several days ago.

The Commission hasn’t yet published its decision on the resignation and on the eventuality of early mayoral elections following the expiration of the term in office of the mayor general of Chisinau municipality.
