Silvia Radu and Ion Ceban are the favorites of the electoral race in Chisinau, shows a poll conducted by the Center for Sociological Research of Moldova. In the first round of voting, Silvia Radu would gain 23.2% of the poll, while Ion Ceban – 22.5%. Practically one quarter of the respondents are undecided about the favorite candidate. In the eventual runoffs, Silvia Radu would poll 52% of the vote, while Ion Ceban - 48%. The survey covered a sample of 750 persons and was carried out during April 30 – May 8, 2018, IPN reports.
If Andrei Nastase and Ion Ceban reached the runoffs, Ion Ceban would win 53% of the poll. If they had to choose between Constantin Codreanu and Ion Ceban, 55% of the electors in Chisinau would vote for Constantin Codreanu. If Valeriu Munteanu and Ion Ceban competed in the runoffs, the elections would be won by Ion Ceban with 58% of the ballot. If choosing between Silvia Radu and Andrei Nastase, 59% of the voters would pick Silvia Radu.
The respondents consider a mayor should have managerial skills, be honest, responsible, competent, intelligent and patriotic. Sociologist Sergiu Raevschi said Silvia Radu is the favorite because she runs as an independent and appears to be a good manager.
Among the main problems of the city, the inhabitants of Chisinau enumerated: the bad roads - 34%, the garbage – 23% and the state of apartment buildings – 14%. Some 41% of those polled said they are not satisfied with the work done by the ex-mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, 34% are very dissatisfied, 22% are satisfied, while 3% are very satisfied.
During the election campaign, most of the respondents inform themselves from TV. The Internet is the second most popular source of information, being followed by newspapers and radio stations.
The poll has a margin of sampling error of 3%.
