A number of priests and parishioners of the Orthodox Church took part in a Silence March in support of the traditional family that was mounted in Chisinau on May 14. The people came together to support the family formed by a man and a woman and the families with many children. Participants in the march said that namely the traditional family reflects the teachings of Orthodoxy, contributing thus to building a society that is well anchored in really important values that ensure the continuity of a nation, IPN reports.
Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova Vladimir, who led the march, said the traditional family is an ancient tradition of Moldova blessed by God. The mankind is based on the family formed by a man and a woman - Adam and Eve. Many nongovernmental organizations that are far from the truth appeared lately.
“This is a hard period for our Church and for our country given that some of the MPs voted the sexual minorities’ law and put us at the same level with these,” said the Metropolitan Bishop, noting that this was done even if 98% of Moldova’s population opposed this law.
Priest Petru Gojan, from Soldanesti town, said the Christian family is a God-supported arrangement that must be protected. “We are the descendants of Adam and Eve, who were created from earth and the rib. So, this plan of God must be continued until the end of the world, until the second coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ,” he stated.
According to priest Petru Ciobanu from Nisporeni town, the march was staged in support of the numerous families. “The birth rate in our country is very low. We are disappearing as a nation. By three children should be born in each family – one for the father, one for the mother and the third for God and the nation,” he said.
Parishioners believe the traditional Orthodox Christian family loses significance in Moldova, including because a lot of sects were created. “The people are baptized, but then go with those who give them money, clothes and food. This is not right,” said Maria Vasiliu from Vatra town.
The Christians went on a march from the Ciuflea Monastery up to the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in central Chisinau.
