Signals about cheating in Baccalaureate exams

A case of cheating was identified at the first Baccalaureate exam in the language of study that was taken today. Valentina Miron, deputy head of the Assessment and Evaluation Agency, has told Info-Prim Neo that a person phoned her and informed that the students are allowed to copy at a Baccalaureate center in Chisinau. “I was phoned by a woman who spoke Russian. She said she found out the information from her son,” Valentina Miron said. A number of 202 Baccalaureate centers were opened all over Moldova. The number of supervisors is low and not all the centers are monitored. Only 33 of the 44 centers opened in Chisinau are monitored. The incident happened at one of the 11 centers that were not supervised. Valentina Miron said she will ask that this center be strictly monitored at the other exams. According to Miron, no other violations or incidents were reported. Of the about 30,000 twelfth graders, 376 were not admitted to the exam as they got low grades in the language of study during the year. About 23,000 students have taken today the Romanian language exam, about 6,000 – the Russian language exam, 18 – the Ukrainian language exam, 28 – the Bulgarian language exam, while 33 – the Gagauz language exam. The next exam, in the foreign language, will be taken on June 10.
