The representative office of Siemens SRL Romania will rehabilitate 14 medium-voltage installations in Moldova within a project supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The company was chosen at a contest held by the state-owned enterprise Moldelectrica, IPN reports.

In a press release, the company said the rehabilitation of the 14 installations is the broadest project to repair medium-voltage transformer stations implemented by Siemens so far. This is to be competed in two years of the launch of the works, expectedly in the second quarter of 2018.

“The partnership with Moldelectrica and the fact that we can contribute to the rehabilitation of the energy system of the Republic of Moldova honors us. We are confident that this project is only a first step for the energy industry of the Republic of Moldova,” said Petru Ruset, country division lead energy management at Siemens Romania and Moldova.

Moldelectrica director general Ghennady Dimov expressed his confidence that Siemens SRL, which has a long experience of work in the energy sector, will cope with the challenges of the project and will implement modern technologies in the Republic of Moldova.

With a history of 113 years in Romania, Siemens currently operates four factories and four research-development centers at the local level. At the star of the fiscal year 2017, Siemens SRL took over and has coordinated since then all the sale activities of the German group in Moldova. The company has three strategic development directions, namely:  electrification, automation and digitization.
