Siegfried Mureșan was reelected chair of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova. The Romanian MEP said that his main goal is to help the Republic of Moldova be ready for accession to the European Union and to combat security threats coming from the Russian Federation, IPN reports.
The MEP noted that he will continue to defend the interests of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens in the European Parliament, as he has done uninterruptedly in the past 10 years. “The Republic of Moldova is very important for the security of the European Union and is very important for Romania. That is why we must offer it the support it deserves,” Siegfried Mureșan noted in a post on social media.
The Romanian MEP believes that the Republic of Moldova needs more financial and technical support from the European Union in order to modernize, reform and be ready for accession. “That is why I will complement the work of chair of the delegation with my work as chief negotiator of the European Parliament for the future Multiannual Budget of the European Union post-2027. I will thus make sure that we allocate sufficient financial resources to support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova on its way to integration into the European Union,” said Siegfried Mureșan.
