The geopolitical course of Igor Dodon was recapitulated in a new article by the sic! project, titled “The opportunistic plank in Igor Dodon's eye”. This comes after some time ago the Socialist leader called another politician an opportunist.
“Igor Dodon should be perhaps the last politician in Moldova to use the notion of opportunism as a scolding word. This is because in only ten years, which is not so much for a career politician, Mr Dodon managed to show impressive inconsistency, including geopolitically. Once in several years, Igor Dodon jumps from one wave onto another,” remarks sic!
The article goes on by taking stock of the phases thorough which the geopolitical orientation of Igor Dodon went since 2007 until now: “pro-European”, “Euro-skeptic”, “balanced”, ”Customs Union-skeptic”, “pro-Russian”.
“So, Dodon is pro-Russian. For now. Surely he slips up from time to time, as he did recently, when he abandoned both the Russian model (when he said that the Community acquis is more suitable for advancing reforms - IPN) and the idea of federalization. This happened even if his party presented a federalization conception less than three years ago,” reads the article.
The full article can be read (in Romanian) on the website of sic! project.
