It’s not possible to supply all those who want with social bread because the price of wheat increased considerably. A kilogram of wheat earlier cost 0.85 lei, but not costs 3 lei. The bakeries and grain producers suffer losses if they make social bread, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “We can no longer fill the shelves with social bread when the price of a kilogram of wheat is 3 lei. I understand that there are groups of persons who need this bread and that this is a socially important product. But if we oblige the economic entities to produce more such bread, we risk making the bakeries bankrupt,” the minister told a news conference. Vasile Bumacov urged those who want social bread to wake up earlier so as to find it in the shops, or they can go to villages to see when the farmers wake up and how they work all day long and ask them to produce to their detriment. The minister said that the wheat harvest this year will meet the necessities, but there will be practically no wheat for export. The corn, sunflower and other socially important crops recovered after the recent rain.
