Twenty-one schools and kindergartens in Chisinau now lack medical staff. Sanitarian of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Constantin Manic said the problem is older and is due to the low salaries.
“Many people come to be hired, but they refuse when they hear that the salary is only 936 lei,” the sanitarian has told IPN. According to him, the proposals to raise the salaries submitted to the local and central authorities remained without an answer.
Constantin Manic said that doctors in education institutions are needed especially in this period, when the number of acute viral infections of the respiratory system increases. In February, there were recorded 946 cases among children aged between two and seven and 1,291 cases in the 7 – 19 age bracket.
Deputy director of Kindergarten No. 116 situated in Buiucani district Elizaveta Mosneaga said their doctor resigned last autumn and the institution had to employ a specialists who works in another place and comes to the kindergarten for three hours a day. When there is no doctor, the duties are performed by the director. “It’s hard as there are 270 children who must be examined daily. The doctor must approve the menu, calculate the kilocalories and do other things,” stated Elizaveta Mosneaga.
In Chisinau there are 152 kindergartens and 147 schools.
