Wednesday's fire in a restaurant at Sun City Mall in downtown Chisinau was caused by a short circuit, according to preliminary findings by the firefighters. Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service spokesperson Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that the the exact cause will be specified in a final conclusion of the investigation. Overnight, the firefighters disassembled the roof over the damaged structure, a bridge initially intended as a passageway over Pushkin Street, to avoid its collapse. The fire erupted yesterday at around 3:40 PM. Over 40 firefighters on 8 fire engines were dispatched to put out the blaze. Eight persons were evacuated from the restaurant. No one was hurt, except for a firefighter who suffered a burn to his arm.
