A short circuit broke out in a bakery on the ground floor of the building of the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM). Firefighters established that the fire broke out inside the production section. All students, university employees and employees of the bakery were evacuated immediately, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the 112 call was received at 12:42 and firefighters managed to extinguish the fire at 12:55.
The intervention of the IGSU crew was requested after dense smoke was observed inside the ten-storey building.
The fire was extinguished using techniques appropriate to the increased level of intervention. The cause and circumstances are yet to be established.
