The Shor Party agrees that snap parliamentary elections should be held, but warns that if these elections are held now, the difficult situation in the country will worsen further, Violeta Ivanov, the deputy head of the party’s parliamentary group, stated after the consultations with President Maia Sandu, IPN reports.
“In such a situation, we need a responsible government of professionals who would ensure governance until the next elections. We informed Missis President that we are ready to assume political responsibility for forming a professional, responsible government with a competent Prime Minister so as not to leave the people without salaries, the pensioners without pensions and to deal with the pandemic crisis and to organize free and fair snap elections,” stated Violeta Ivanov.
The group’s secretary Marina Tauber said the Shor Party is the first that is ready to assume responsibility in this difficult situation. “We will appropriately manage the whole country. I think we today took a courageous step and told Missis President that we are ready to field a candidate for Prime Minister. We have a constitutional time limit for this. We will provide details later. We must have a technocratic interim government,” stated Marina Tauber.
Unaffiliated MP Sergiu Sîrbu, who took part in the discussions, said the president, who is responsible for consultations with the parliamentary groups, should be neutral and impartial. “In the absence of a Government with powers, we risk witnessing a collapse. The citizens need stability until the snap elections,” noted the MP.
President Maia Sandu on December 28 is having consultations with the parliamentary groups following the resignation of the Chicu Government.
