The MPs of the Shor Party propose instituting a moratorium on the cutting down of trees for a three-year period. They presented a relevant legislative proposal on June 5, when it is celebrated World Environment Day, IPN reports.
MP Violeta Ivanov in a press briefing said that the wooded areas in Moldova decreased to 12.7%, while in Europe they represent about 40%. “Even so, Moldova is one of the largest exporters of wood,” she stated, noting that the situation is serious and the ecological imbalance is more pronounced.
Another legislative proposal bans the burning of waste. “This bill is aimed at eliminating pollutants, especially dioxin, which is super-toxic and weakens the immune system,” stated Violeta Ivanov. The third proposal bans the import and transition through Moldova of animal waste.
In another development, the MP said the economic and epidemiological crisis worsens daily and the government cannot cope. “The parliamentary majority, instead of launching concrete proposals and projects, self-isolated at home,” noted Violeta Ivanov, underlining that the prospects of Moldova and its people are gloomy.
The MP also said that the parliamentary group of the Shor Party called on the MPs to come together for a meeting. However, despite the serious situation in the country, the parliamentary majority hides behind self-isolation, while hundreds and thousands of doctors work daily, exposing themselves to risks.
