The withdrawal of parliamentary immunity of Ilan Shor, the leader of Shor Political Party, "looks like a personal vengeance of President Igor Dodon". On Thursday, Denis Ulanov, Shor party deputy, said at the Parliament's rostrum that the Head of state was afraid that Ilan Shor could reveal how much money he had given to him for covering the costs of running PSRM, as well as other gifts, IPN reports.
Denis Ulanov blamed the current government for its lack of courage and reiterated the SHor Party’s appeal to amend the Constitution so that parliamentary immunity be abolished for all Members of Parliament. According to the deputy, Igor Dodon would like to destroy a political rival.
The MP also mentioned that Shor Party was not against the withdrawal of immunity, but against making the process selective. The MP asked interim Prosecutor Dumitru Robu, present in the Parliament, why he had not examined the file of non-performing loans granted to the husband of Zinaida Greceanîi Parliament Speaker, and why he had not requested the withdrawal of Igor Dodon’s immunity, who openly claimed that he had been receiving a million dollars per year for his political projects.
Denis Ulanov described Ilan Shor's immunity lifting procedure as a "cheap political show", meant to distract citizens' attention from the real problems faced by the Republic of Moldova and its citizens.
