The “Shor” Party does not support the referendum on the dismissal of Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality, but demands that the mayor and the Chisinau Municipal Council should resign, IPN reports.
Alina Sargu, spokeswoman for the party’s leader Ilan Shor, told a news conference that the “Shor” Party considers time has come for Dorin Chirtoaca to tender his resignation of honor.
Alina Sargu said the referendum will cut the mayor’s term in office by one year only, but this will be organized at a very large cost. Even if the plebiscite is successful, the city will remain without administration until new elections are held.
At the same time, besides the mayor, the local councilors also bear responsibility for the critical state in the city. Therefore, the “Shor” Party believes the mayor and the Municipal Council should resign, stated the spokeswoman.
Alina Sargu said the “story of the referendum” is used for political PR purposes both by the Party of Socialists and the Liberal Party.
“Shor” Party deputy head Marina Tauber said the inhabitants of Chisinau witness the non-professionalism of the administrative bodies at a time when all the projects end in failure. She noted that working in Orhei, she convinced herself that real things can be done if there is wish. But in Chisinau there is no wish.
The Socialists last week started to collect signatures in support of the referendum on the dismissal of Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality. The initiative group is to collect the necessary 63,000 signatures during 60 days. According to the Party of Socialists, the plebiscite should take place in November at the latest.
