The parliamentary group of the Shor Party will vote for the bill to amend the law on the National Integrity Authority in the first reading, but will refrain from voting on the bill to amend the law on the prosecution service, MP Denis Ulanov stated in a press briefing, being quoted by IPN.

According to the MP, the authors of the given bills say that by them they will improve the situation in the justice sector, the fight against corruption and will restore the people’s confidence in justice. But many experts criticized the bills, primarily the draft law on the prosecution service, saying this can have a boomerang effect for the authors.

The Shor group considers the simple replacement of persons in so important posts depending on the preferences of the current power does not solve the problem of justice in Moldova. On the contrary, these posts become politically controlled.

Denis Ulanov said the Shor group will not vote for the bill to amend the law on the prosecution service so as not to be accused of settling an old score with the prosecutor, even if they consider that Alexandr Stoianoglo is not the best prosecutor.

They called on PAS to designate a person from outside as prosecutor general so as to offer this political freedom.

The Shor group will yet vote for the bill to amend the law on the National Integrity Authority as they consider that more powers should be offered to this Authority.
