The Transition leader Yevgheny Shevchuk paid a working visit to Moscow, where he met with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin, who is the special representative of the President of Russia for the Transnistrian settlement, IPN reports.
According to the Transnistrian press, Yevgheny Shevchuk said the regional situation seriously affected the economy of the Transnistrian region, while the demand for the production of the Transnistrian economic entities abroad has decreased.
The Transnistrian leader informed Rogozin that the economic situation reduced the possibilities of the region’s budget to cover the social benefits. He noted that if the EU annuls the regime of autonomous trade preferences for the Transnistrian companies on the European markets at the beginning of 2016 this will affect the region’s economy event more.
Since last year, the Transnistrian region has faced serious economic problems. The local administration had to cut the pensions and salaries of budget-funded employees by 30%.
