Sheriff has won Moldova’s Football Cup for the tenth time. The team from Tiraspol beat Sfântul Gheorghe 1-0 in overtime, IPN reports.
The only goal was scored by Brazilian player Leandro Ribeiro in the 93th minute. “It was a tense match. We lacked concentration at the final stage,” Sheriff coach Zoran Zekic told a news conference. “Sheriff will never have the wish that was shown by my players today” stated the coach of Sfântul Gheorghe Sergei Cebotari.
Sheriff used the following players: Mikulic, Ghecev, Jurado (Kendysh 70th min), Cristiano, Belousov, Anton, Kovachevic, Oancea (Palic 46th), Berco (Leandro 46th, Jach 117th), Susic, Posmac.
During the break, the Moldovan Football Federation staged an exceptional laser and light show, which ended with the presentation of the new Cup of Moldova. The award ceremony involved the Federation’s new President Leonid Oleinichenko and secretary general Nicolae Cebotari.
