Sheriff Tiraspol has qualified for the 1/8 finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League. After suffering a 0-1 defeat against Partisan in Chisinau, Sheriff won the second leg in Belgrade 3-1, IPN reports.
The hosts opened the score in the 13th minute through the Dutch player Queensy Menig, but Sheriff changed the score in the first half of the game. Cedric Badolo transformed a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, while Mouhamed Diop scored spectacularly towards the end of the first half. Diop of Senegal scored his second goal in the 47th minute.
The team from Tiraspol will learn its opponent of the 1/8 finals today, February 24. Sheriff will meet one of the eight winning teams of the UECL groups: AZ Alkmaar (the Netherlands), Djurgarden (Sweden), Istanbul Başakşehir (Turkey), Nice (France), Sivasspor (Turkey), Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia), Villarreal (Spain) or West Ham (England). The first leg was scheduled for March 9, while the return game for March 16.
