Sheriff suffer first defeat this season

Moldova's longtime champions Sheriff Tiraspol suffered their first defeat in this season, losing surprisingly 0-1 to Academia UTM Chisinau in a Round 6 game-in-hand on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The only goal of the match hosted by the UTM Sports Venue was scored by Radu Ginsari on 29 minutes. This victory took Academia to the 4th spot in the standings, just 3 points away from the current leaders Iskra-Stal and Dacia.
Sheriff remain on the 7th spot, but they still have one more game in hand. This is the second consecutive failure for Moldova's champions after the Europa League defeat to AZ Alkmaar.
In the previous season, it was the match with Academia UTM that secured the 10th consecutive premiership title for Sheriff.
The next round of the National Division will be played on Sunday, September 26.
