Sheriff Tiraspol has drawn 1-1 away with Vojvodina Serbia in he first-leg match of the Europa League playoffs. This result increases the chances of Moldova’s champion to qualify for the group phase of the competition, IPN reports.
The ‘yellow wolves’ played well the first half and scored the first goal towards its end. Brazilian player Cadu made an excellent pass to Bulgarian striker Ismail Isa, who scored easily from several meters of the goal. In several minutes yet, Sheriff remained with Henrique Luvannor, who was eliminated for the second yellow card. As a result, the hosts tied through Petar Skuletic.
Israeli halfback Kobi Moyal made his debut for Sheriff in this match. The first 11 players were all foreigners. The only Moldovan who entered the field was Alexandru Pashchenko.
The return match will be played in Tiraspol on August 29. In the 2009 and 2010 seasons, Sheriff played in the Europa League groups, this being the greatest accomplishment among the Moldovan football clubs.
