Sheriff qualify for third preliminary round of Champions League

Sheriff Tiraspol qualified for the third preliminary round of the Champions League after another 1-0 victory over Armenian side Ulisses, Info-Prim Neo reports. Just like in the first leg, the only goal of the game was scored in the second half. Sheriff captain Miral Samardzic netted from the penalty spot. “It was a tense match, especially in the first half, but in the end we obtained the result we wanted”, Sheriff coach Milan Milanovic declared after the match. “We wanted to qualify, we did our best, but it wasn’t enough. This is football”, the guests’ coach Sevada Arzumanian told the press. In the next round, Sheriff will meet the winner of the fixture between Dinamo Zagreb from Croatia and Ludogorets from Bulgaria. The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg. On Thursday, July 26, three other Moldovan clubs will play in European competitions. Dacia Chisinau, Milsami Orhei and Zimbru Chisinau will fight for a place in the third preliminary round of Europa League. So far, the new European season has been successful for Moldovan teams, which obtained 7 victories and a draw in 9 matches. Thus, Moldova currently occupies the second place in UEFA coefficients ranking for 2012-2013.
