Sheriff were defeated 1:2 at Tiraspol by Sweden’s champions AIK Solna in the first leg of the Europa League third qualifying round.

Lukic opened the scoring with an own goal on the 12th minute, and Sigorsson doubled the guests’ lead just two minutes later. Sheriff were able to score a consolation goal from a penalty kick by the captain Iuri Kendysh, on the 56th minute. 

“The blame is on us. We made the same mistakes,” Sheriff manager Zoran Zekic told the post-game press conference.

Sheriff will travel to Solna on August 15 for the second-leg game. The winning team will face in the play-off stage the defeated side of the Champions League qualifier CFR Cluj vs. Celtic Glasgow (the first game ended in a 1:1 draw in Cluj).
