Sheriff drop to third place
Matchday 23 witnessed some surprising results, as Sheriff Tiraspol and Sfantul Gheorghe Suruceni drew 1-1. The match took place on Monday, February 21, in Suruceni. Mihai Platica broke the deadlock for the home side, but the champions leveled ten minutes after the break through Russian player Nail Zamaliev. Despite storming the Suruceni defence, Sheriff failed to net the winning goal.
As a result, the Tiraspol-based club dropped to third place, 4 points behind league leaders Dacia Chisinau. The latter struggled against Iskra-Stal Ribnita, but managed to grab victory two minutes from full-time. The game ended 2-1.
Milsami bested FC Costuleni 2-0 and climbed to second place.
