Sheriff Tiraspol plays the return game with Slovan Bratislava, of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, in the evening of August 6. The team from Tiraspol needs a victory as it was beaten 1-2 in Slovakia, IPN reports.
“We want to play in the Champions League groups. That’s why we are obliged to eliminate Slovan. I hope the stadium will be full to capacity and our supporters will help us to achieve our objective,” sheriff coach Veaceslav Rusnac told a news conference before the game.
“We were better than Slovan in the first match, but we made an unpardonable mistake. We must take revenge in Tiraspol as we need a victory,” said Sheriff striker Radu Ginsari.
On the other hand, the Slovakian team is aware that the return game will not be easy. “Sheriff is a very good team that plays football of a high quality. We will be making effort to achieve a result that will enable us to qualify for the playoffs of the Champions League,” said the coach of Slovan Frantisek Straka.
The encounter between Sheriff and Slovan starts at 9pm. It will be controlled by Hungarian referee Istvan Vad.
