Sheriff trounced Petrocub 4-1 in the most important game of the eighth stage of the National Division. Owing to this victory, the team from Tiraspol distanced itself by five points from Petrocub, which remained second, IPN reports.

Croatian player Gabrijel Boban scored two goals in the first half of the game. After the break, Dan Taras reduced the difference, but the opponents scored twice again, in the 60th and 64th minute, through Castaneda and Charles.

“We didn’t deserve such a defeat. We had also good moments. I’m angry with the individual mistakes that resulted in goals,” said the coach of Petrocub Lilian Popescu.

The last two encounters of the eighth stage of the National Division are: Sfîntul Gheorghe - Dacia-Buiucani and Zimbru - FC Florești.
