Sheriff haven’t made it to the Champions League second qualifying round. The Tiraspol-based team did win the away game against Saburtalo Tbilisi, 3-1, but it’s the Georgian club that go on thanks to their first-leg 3-0 victory.
Sheriff started the game so promisingly, with three goals scored in the first 10 minutes, thanks to Latifi, Margvelashvili (own goal) and Tambe. But Saburtalo managed to reduce the difference thanks to Rolovic on the 59th minute. In the last part of the game, Sheriff were down to ten men after Palcic was sent off.
Moldova’s champions will now try their luck in the Europa League qualifying. The first game will be against the winning side of the encounter between Partizani Tirana (Albania) and Qarabag (Azerbaijan).
