Sheriff aims at victory in last Europa League match

Moldova’s champion Sheriff Tiraspol on December 12 meets Tromso in its last match of the current Europa League season. The team has no chance to qualify for the 1/16 finals of the competition, but aims to close the year with a victory, IPN reports.

“It is very important to score a victory against Tromso as we won no game this season,” Sheriff captain Miral Samardzic told a news conference.

“In the previous two seasons, Sheriff scored by 5 points. Now we can end with six points. We are prepared to beat Tromso,” said Sheriff coach Veaceslav Rusnac.

Tromso has only one point after playing five matches, but it can avoid finishing last in the group if it beats Sheriff. “We are proud that we play in Europa League and we want to successfully end the competition,” said Tromso coach Steinar Nilsen.

Brazilian halfback Ricardinho was suspended and is unable to play for Sheriff. The encounter between Sheriff and Tromso starts at 22.05 and will be controlled by Belgian referee Sebastien Delferiere.
