A seven-year-old child from Sângerei district was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition after a football gate fell over him. It happened before the eyes of his mother who came to watch the match at the local stadium. The boy was rushed to the district hospital and was then transferred to Chisinau.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Sângerei Police Inspectorate Ina Banari said the incident happened on Saturday evening on a football field in Grigorauca village. “Police officers at the scene preliminarily determined that a seven-year-old minor was playing football when the goal of the field fell over him. The minor needed medical care and was transported to the Sângerei District Hospital. We note that the minor was under the supervision of his mother who was watching the football match that involved her son and other children. The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident,” stated Ina Banari.
The child was transported from Sângerei to the Mother and Child Institute. “The child’s condition at the moment is serious. He suffered cervical spine trauma, a hematoma and other injuries. Currently, the child is in the surgical resuscitation division under medical supervision,” the Institute’s spokesman Maxim Cazacu has told IPN.
Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco called on all the local public authorities, schools and other institutions that manage sports grounds, including football fields, to carry out a safety check on football goals so as to prevent serious accidents, especially involving children.
On May 31, 2023, a 15-year-old minor died after a football goal fell over him at a football field in Ciocana district of Chisinau. The minor was rushed to the hospital, but didn’t survive.
