Seven winners of the National Award 2022 in arts, science, music and literary in the evening of October 24 were conferred distinctions in a ceremony staged in the Government Building. The awards were handed over by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, IPN reports.
The National Award went to university professor, doctor habilitate in physical and mathematic sciences Gennady Korotchenkov for his fundamental contribution to developing science and technology and for promoting Moldova’s image.
Senior scientific researcher Valentin Celac, doctor habilitate of biology, was awarded for remarkable results in scientific research, innovation and implementation.
Craftswoman Lidia Bojescu, the founder of the Crafts Center “Bojescu Worship,” was awarded for her efforts to save and perpetuate the tradition of making the national costume and handcrafting.
Among the winners are also writer, literary critic and journalist Mircea Ciobanu, who was awarded for Opera Omnia, composer, musician and music producer Valeriu Bogheanu, who was awarded for abnegation and prolific work in culture, writer, dramatist, publicist, actor and TV present Constantin Cheianu, who was awarded for Opera Omnia., and the band consisting of Anatolie Lapicus and Yuri Mahovici, pianists, university professors and soloists of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevicjh” - for 30 years of productive artistic work.
“We decided to confer the National Award this year too on remarkable personalities from our country so as to underline the role played by science, arts, literature and music in developing the country and promoting the national values. Particularly in such difficult moments, culture can and should contribute to building resilience and social unity,” stated Premier Natalia Gavrilița.
The winners were traditionally selected by secret ballot by the National Award Commission in its last meeting on September 12. Later, the list of nominees was approved by the Cabinet.
