The messages transmitted by mobile phones to the citizens, by which the Government recommends seeing immediately a doctor if the person returned recently from areas stricken by the coronavirus and have fever and cough, produced results. According to the director of the National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună, seven persons went to see a doctor owing to the health problems they faced, IPN reports.

“Seven persons, six of whom returned from Italy and one from Korea, had fever and breathing problems and were coughing. All the cases tested negative for the coronavirus,” Nicolae Furtună stated in the talk show “Direct Access” on NTV Moldova channel.

The official said all the seven persons went to see a doctor after they received the message from the Government. 

“They came from trips and were enthusiastic, but realized that they could be infected. The persons either travelled to Italy or worked there and are of different ages and sexes,” stated Nicolae Furtună.

He noted that the seven citizens are out of danger and pose no public threat. They symptoms they have at present could lead to a respiratory infection and bronchitis, but are not determined by the coronavirus.

To calm things down, the official said COVID-19 is not very contagious. This is a new airborne virus of the group of acute viral respiratory infections.

“In the Republic of Moldova, panic prevails over logic. The people should understand that panic is unwanted,” concluded Nicolae Furtună.
