Seven more doctors from the Transnistrian region who work in health facilities situated on the right bank of the Nistru will be temporarily accommodated in the towns where they work. These serve at the Orhei District Hospital, the Rezina District Hospital, the Emergency Medical Assistance Substation in Criuleni and the Căușeni District Hospital, IPN reports.
The Reintegration Policies Bureau said that this solution was identified following the illegal unilateral actions taken by the Transnistrian authorities, which oblige the doctors who enter the region to also self-isolate for 14 days. The Bureau received 95 complaints about the obstacles placed by the Transnistrian side to the medical personnel from the local public authorities of the Security Zone.
The lodging of doctors in the towns where they work will be based on voluntary principles. Doctors from another seven districts have been among the beneficiaries until now. The accommodation costs and other administrative costs are covered with the EU’s support through the Confidence Building Measured Program implemented by UNDP Moldova.
“The pretext of the pandemic used to limit the human rights is a subject that deserves the attention of the development partners, international human rights institutions and organizations and for resetting the priorities on the negotiation agenda,” stated Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic. Earlier, she requested the Transnistrian side to allow the doctors to travel free and when she met with refusal she notified the mediators in the Transnistrian conflict sentiment process and the competent international bodies.
